Since this backport is very unlikely to be done piecemeal, but instead in one go starting from a stabilized 6.x, I'm closing all the issues that are done for 6.x, rather than leaving them as "to be ported" (per discussion with Robert)

Is there any chance of having this applied to the v5 branch in CVS or do you specifically want to build a single patch that covers all functionality?

I'd prefer to have apachesolr.module and apachesolr_search.module working before applying it. I can be persuaded otherwise if people will help out.

This is now effectively a duplicate of #557152.
These fixes should all be in the new DRUPAL-5--2 branch by Claudiu.

I've also now committed the fixes listed here to 5.x-1.x.
