So, I installed it and tested it out. It seemed to go OK, but the user created term wasn't added. The node is published.
- It doesn't show up on the article.
- It isn't in the taxonomy.

Am I missing something or did it just not work?

I just tested with a fresh install of Drupal 6.6, and it's
working for me. Are you sure the node is published?
Are terms added the usual way showing up?
Have you got any other taxonomy-related modules installed?

I re-installed it on another installation of Drupal and it seems to be working fine. I'll install some other modules later and if it stops working again I'll let you know.

I did have other taxonomy-related modules installed on the last installation of Drupal. I can't really view it now because later I installed Category and couldn't even access the site anymore.

I think I have found the issue. If the post is sent to moderation via the Modr8 module, it doesn't save the tag added with Taxonomy Other. However, if it isn't, the tag saves OK.
