mikey_p commentedTo see the setting, please go to the content type admin page, Administer -> Content -> Content types, on your site, and click on the edit link next to the content types where you would like to see the option 'Show "contact the author" link for this content type'. Click the enabled button and save to see your changes. Also this link is only visible to logged in users.

screeno commentedHello,
I have followed the configuration steps for the contact_link module as outlined above and have had no success getting the contact link to show for any of the content types. I have enabled the module for blogs and comments without success.
Thanks in advance for any help offered.

nedjoNote that the link is available only if the author allows contact via the contact form.

screeno commentedOkay, I got it. The setting has to be made in each individual user account. All seems to be working now.

asb commentedHi,
sorry to re-open this issue, but I'm having the same problem after upgrading from D5 (where I used this module for a long time) to D6.
Symptom: The "contact the author" link for nodes and comments does not show up anymore, anywhere.
The "Show "contact the author" link for this content type" is enabled for all content types.
On ./user/{id-of-user}/edit, "allow private contact form" is checked. Verified on several user different accounts.
This happens as well with contributed themes like Slash as with core themes like Garland (in Garland, I'm seeing the node's tags twice) or (customized) sub-themes of Zen. I'm using the 6.x releases and have cleared the theme registry (and other caches through admin_menu) very often. The site should be upgraded properly, at least neither update.php shows any warnings nor in watchdog log.
In D5 I never experienced anything like this; maybe there is something I have to add to my themes template.php or to enable somewhere else?
Thanks & greetings, -asb

guruslot commentedMaybe I'm too late but I have met the same problem today. This problem was described below - the link is not shown to the author, so just login as another user.
