Directions

  1. Fly to Schiphol, Amsterdam.
  2. After passing through customes, follow the "to the trains" signs.
  3. Purchase a oneway ticket to Amsterdam Central Station at the yellow machines. These machines accept Euros and Maestro PIN. Your ticket should cost Euro 3,40.
    Note: In the Netherlands, paying with your credit card is not standard.
  4. If you want to use busses and/or metro's, buy a "strippenkaart" as well at this machine.
  5. Trains towards Amsterdam leave from station 1 or 2, usually every 10 or 15 minutes.
  6. The trip to Central Station will be around 20 minutes.
  7. Be sure to watch your luggage and your wallet. The Netherlands is usually safe, but this track is known for pickpocketers.
  8. Once in Amsterdam Central Station, walk to the front entrance/exit to leave the station. It is where most people go and the numbers of the tracks decrease. Do not exit the back of the station where the boats leave. If you get wet feet, you walked the wrong way.
  9. You are now walking towards the city centre of Amsterdam. Cross the tram stops and walk on a big street called "Het Damrak."
  10. Take the first left, 600 meters / 5 minutes away from the Central Station.
  11. After about 100 meters you will cross the "Warmoestraat," the street where the Winston is located.

To go to "de Brakke Grond" from the center of Amsterdam ("de Dam") follow these directions:

  1. Go to Paleisstraat for 90 m
  2. turn right onto: Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal for 60 m
  3. turn left onto: Raadhuisstraat for 70 m
  4. turn left onto: Spuistraat for 500 m
  5. turn left onto: Spui for 40 m
  6. turn right onto: Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal for 40 m
  7. turn left onto: Singel for 400 m
  8. turn right onto: Muntplein for 70 m
  9. continue along Rokin for 450 m
  10. turn right onto: Wijde Lombardsteeg for 40 m

    11. (Ten minute walk)
