How can I change the "from" part of e-mail the Drupal system creates such as account password resets. It does not match the hostname of my domain and can be confusing.

Go to your admin page, click on site settings and make sure these settings are to your liking. The site name is one of the settings. Then go back to your admin page and click user setting. Near the bottom should be the password email. My subject line is default "Replacement login information for !username at !site". Their are many different !tokens listed for you to use. Hope this helps.
