I am using image and img_assist to generate my images, and I give my users access to it.
I can see the files/images folder explode over time. Is there a good way to sort it into subfolders?
What is the purpose of files/images/temp? Every image i upload ends up there as well.
Sorry if this has been asked elsewhere. I can't seem to find the right answer.

perhaps this...
The Filemanager module could help you out here:

I haven't used it myself so can't offer any hints...

FCK & FM
This seems to be what FCKeditor is using. It is somewhat too complicated with too many opitons to offer my users.
Is there a way I can change the images folder every so often? Lets say after I have about 1000 Images there, I simply change it to images2 and from then on everything will be put there?
Can I delete the contents of the temp folder without causing problems?
I have disabled the option allowing users to view the original images. Can I delete those too to save room?
Thanks
Andre

Is Cron the answer...
Noticed the same thing. See this post node/28543 for a good discussion of cleaning up temp files.
