Placing Slider module in a block

I have successfully implemented the Slider module as documented here: http://drupal.org/project/slider

However, I would like to be able to have it within a block rather than as a node. I have tried using Views module to achieve this but I am new to Views and I am not having much success. Can someone suggest a way to achieve the desired result?
