Issue Summary
Please have a look at #335179: unnecessary error reported for options validations and if you can review the patch.
This problem will surface mainly when using logging alerts.

Cross-posting in the linked issue: I can see the benefit for having that error message. You should rarely see it, and in the case that it happens, it either means something is going wrong or someone is trying to hack the forms on your site. In both of those cases, I'd want to know.
Anyway, since this isn't much we can really do here in the module, I'm marking this as fixed. People that can and will review the core patch will do so.
