I know you're a ways off considering the D7.x version of Services, but it is worth noting there are efforts to do some of the stuff Services 6.x-1.x does in core for D7. I would suggest it would be worth starting some communication between the two sets of people, if that isn't happening already? =)

Marking as won't fix as the other issue hasn't moved since November. Assuming D7 version of services will still need to support these methods.

Looks that way. Maybe they'll incorporate the Services code in to core later, but judging by the initial reaction, they're more likely to re-write something. =(
