This module seems to be designed to get people to pay $160.00 for "dash player".

If you site is commercial at all (e.g. you have ads placed on your site), you have to pay $160.00 to get the missing piece of this module, DashPlayer.

Two issues here:

1. Is it allowed to post non-free modules to Drupal.org?
or
2. Is there a documented way to use another free flash player with this module.

Title: Tutorials and Documenation favor Dash Player.... » module depends on commercial product

You do not have to use the Dash Media Player with FlashVideo. You can use any other Commercial player with this module (which you still have to pay money for).

I use the module succesfully with JW player, which is used in other Drupal modules. In configuration just replace the player name with the other player's name and it should work OK. I agree that it would be good to point to the alternatives in the readme.

Where is the documentation for using a non-commercial player? Please include documentation with the module, and indicate in this bug report the URL where it can be found.

Just closing this bug again with ALL CAPS YELLING is not sufficient.

Title: module depends on commercial product » document player usage

I think it is a good idea to point out that other players can be used as well in the relevant sections of the README and on the project page.

download the player from this link it is an open source
and rename it to the Player.swf
and place it in the file directory
that is all you need .

Tutorials and Documentation has been updated to not favor either player.

Ok. I understand we are interpreting the GPL to allow external code dependencies.

Lowering priority to minor to reflect that we just want documentation on the project page on how to plug in other players.

ajfabb,

I hope my documentation changes help out. Please let me know if you see any other anomalies. And my apologies for the all caps thing.... I fixed it to show my true intent for the comment.
