May it be possibile to display images with an advanced viewer application such as:
- aitight viewers :http://www.airtightinteractive.com/viewers/
- imageflow: http://imageflow.finnrudolph.de/

The Imageflow works good with the highslide effect : http://imageflow.finnrudolph.de/

The fact that each image is a node might implicate to add these extensions to the View module?

You might want to try to get further support at http://drupal.org/support. Additionally, the answer to your question might be covered in the handbooks at http://drupal.org/handbook/modules/image already.
