There are dozens of bits of template in a system with OG enabled. It would be useful when configuring the system to have a single checkbox to turn on message id. Then every bit of template could have a unique label and it would be easier to understand where messages have come from! Several of the messages have the same text by default and the use of digests or plain test makes this even more difficult to understand.

jackspiv commentedHi, I'm a newbie Messaging and Notification user.
+three for this suggestion!!!
And if it could be backported asap to 5.x also that would be sweet.
I agree that it is almost impossible to figure out what's what because of so many similar message template parts.
FWIW AFowle and others,
I have been using a "dumb" workaround to this. Whenever I am examining a given bit of message template, from a set I made, I cut/paste a standard note in and CAPITALS, like
MESSAGING DEBUG NOTE: BODYTEMPLATE- NODE CREATION EVENT
this serves the same debug function mentioned here, but painful and not automatic

jose reyero commentedDone a full rework of that part, hope it's easier to understand now.
@jackspiv
We won't be backporting to 5.x (just critical bug fixes), so you better consider upgrading to 6.x.
