I like to have the 'date' at the left side be hiding when the 'Display post information on' at /?q=admin/build/themes/settings is off for that specific content type(s). The rest of the post information is hiding, so that is working fine, except of the date at the left. It would be fine for non-blog static pages.

This feature should be added in the theme.

Committed the changes, will release a new version when Drupal.org runs its packaging script again later.
