Showing Secondary menu on Content pages?
Hi all,
I'm sure there is a setting or module to handle this but haven't been able to figure it out after reading through the forum, handbook etc.
I have a Primary-Secondary menu system set up with the following type of structure;
Topic A
Subtopic A-1
Subtopic A-2
Topic B
Subtopic B-1
Subtopic B-2
Topic C
Subtopic C-1
Subtopic C-2
I have a horizontal menu sytem which works as expected on Pages I've created for the Primary links (i.e. Clicking on "Topic A" brings you to the correct page and shows the appropriate Secondary menu).
The problem I'm having is that when a user clicks on an article or story in Subtopic A-1, the secondary menu is not shown. The Taxonomy is required and set to allow only one choice. Is there a setting I'm missing or a module perhaps? Maybe I'm not understanding the menu system properly.
Again, I'm sorry if this question has been addressed, I did search through the forums but couldn't find what I was looking for.
Thanks,
Rob

so you want the menu to
so you want the menu to 'unfold' when your in a specific section?
So that when you're in Topic B the menu looks like this?
Topic A
Topic B
-Subtopic B-1
-Subtopic B-2
Topic C

I think that's what he means. I'd like to know how to do this too. I'm guessing there's an "expanding menu" module or something to that effect, hope so anyway.
Hi Saltcod, Actually, this
Hi Saltcod,
Actually, this is a horizontal menu system so the Secondary menu only shows after a user has clicked on the Primary link. What I'm trying to accomplish is show the appropriate secondary menu when a user views a story with a Taxonomy term in that category.
As an example,
Primary Horizontal Menu (shown on all pages):
* Dogs * Cats * Birds
Secondary Horizontal Menu after user selects "Cats"
* Stories about Cats * Funny Cat Videos * Pictures of Cats
I would like to have the Cats Secondary menu shown on a story categorized with the Taxonomy terms that have "Cats" as a parent. Right now, when a user views a story, only the Primary menu is displayed.
Thanks for your help,
Rob
menu block
check out the menu block module for this. it doesn't use taxonomy though. to make the secondary menu you just stick the secondary links hierarchically under the primary link (iow you make a menu that's just like your original post), and then go to blocks and add new menu block. you can set it to show only secondary-and-lower links.
Thanks Mark, I'll give that
Thanks Mark, I'll give that a shot.

As a reference for future
As a reference for future readers, I was able to take care of this with the Menu Trails module.
