Well I've been using the beta module for a couple of months no problems, then I've noticed it hasn't worked the last couple of weeks. It stopped authenticating to my smtp server, so I tried the dev version and I'm receiving this error

SMTP -> ERROR: Failed to connect to server: Connection timed out (110) SMTP -> ERROR: Failed to connect to server: php_network_getaddresses: getaddrinfo failed: Name or service not known (0)

I've telneted to the smtp ports no problems, so it's not my mail server.

Further info, from my logs

fsockopen() [<a href='function.fsockopen'>function.fsockopen</a>]: SSL: connection timeout in /var/www/drupal-6.6/sites/all/modules/smtp/phpmailer/class.smtp.php on line 122.

I have same problem! did you have enabled ereg-module? I only found it is appreciated and only got override settings for it in my php.ini...

Are you using GMail?

Did you try changing the SSL port?

This error usually means a phpmailer problem, which version are you using?
