Google AD Sense help please

I receive from google this code:

and I've installed the module AD Sense but anything is visible ... tehn I have serious doubts about settings ...
Even if I enter as user or anonymous, I can't see anything ...

can someone explain something to me: why do you need the AdSense module? I simply pasted the code into blocks or into .tpl.php template files and it came out looking perfect and adsense stats tracked all impressions (haven't tracked clicks yet)

is there a good reason to use the AdSense module? Is it just the extra tools and stats the module includes?

well, I have a LOT of tpl files, possibly 12 or so, as I have one for each content type. I put mine into node-blog.tpl.php just below the "Submitted By...." line and it came out looking perfect.

I placed my google add code in the footer of my site. In the "page.tpl.php". I put it right above the last div on that page. It displays my adsense below the footer. I am trying to determine the best way to keep the site "clean".
