verify google webmaster tools meta tag

I am setting up googles webmaster tools and need to add a meta tag from google to verify the site. I have the nodewords module installed but am unable to set up the required meta tag from google. Is this possible using the nodewords module, or am i required to manually edit one of drupals core files? thanks in advance.

For me it was easier to just upload a file to the root instead of the meta tag.
Simply ftp the file, go back to google and click verify.
