quicksketchThe usual time span for response to abandoned modules is two weeks, but I think that could apply to this request also.

nimrodwebdesign commentedOK, no problem, but ImageCache needs (if it hasn't already) to have a more informative name and description. When I was looking through the huge list of module that coame back when I was searching for one to do what this one does I couldn't read the full info on each one. I remeber seeing ImageCache and thinking 'That's not what I need, I'm not trying to cache images'. Or, maybe it's a problem with the search facility, or even a problem with the way I was using it.

quicksketchWe can move this issue to the Drupal.org webmaster's queue, which can unpublish the node, if you're alright with this change. At the very least, it might be good to remove the module from all project categories, remove the releases, and post a note on the project page.

dwwI unpublished the image_square_thumbnails 5.x-1.0 release node which will alert any update_status users that something is wrong and ensure that the module no longer appears in any project listings. There's already a note at the top of the project page:
(I just made the "ImageCache" in there a link to the ImageCache project page to make it easier for users to find).
Given all that, I think it's reasonable to leave this project node published since that way users who get a warning from update_status can see what happened and be directed to imagecache. Since the only release node is now unpublished (and releases have been disabled for the project), it won't show up in any browsing pages, so new users won't accidentally start using it.
So, everything here is now fixed -- just want to point out the original post was duplicate with #231584: how about imagecache ?. ;)
