The petition module (dependent on CiviCRM) has not been updated in over 2 years. The last compatible version of Drupal was 4.7 (or CiviCRM 1.5, they're now on 2.1). If possible I'd like to unpublish the node to avoid clutter on the Modules pages.

As one of its original developers, I have no problem with that. I've done so.

I have significant need of this module and have developed a 5.x version that integrates with CRMAPI. This is in use in a number of locations including http://lefty.ngphost.com/ (scroll halfway down). I'd like to get that committed and begin developing 6.x and 7.x versions ASAP. I'd be more than happy to take over the project if you can re-publish it and assign it to me. Thanks.

I don't speak for Trellon officially, but I don't think we have any huge interest in maintaining this module, petition, anymore - we've already rewritten it entirely as part of a grander Activism package, at http://drupal.org/project/activism/, and have CiviCRM integration deployed a few places (though we're still cleaning up that module before we release it).

seanr, you've been assigned ownership of the project. Though with a name like "petition" I'd like to see it generalized independent of CiviCRM, but contrib will be as contrib is. :-)

quicksketch - that was precisely my point. The code is already written for 5.x, but I haven't been able to get the patch committed. That'll obviously change now, with a 6.x port soon to follow. ;-)
