For Drupal6 themes we have a '.module' file,but in the case of Drupal5 this '.module' file is not found.Can You tell me the reason for that?

It has nothing to do with d5
It has nothing to do with d5 vs d6-- some themers add a .module file for functionality some don't. It's a function of the theme and the themer, not any particular version of drupal.
