More generalized solution based on SalesForce's PHP toolkit

I am currently looking at building a salesforce integration.

While the solution will be tailored to the client's needs, ideally a fairly generalized Drupal layer will be the result of this work. Worst case it should be the start of such an layer.

I am not planning to base my work on this project because it's not Drupal 6, it has dependencies on contact and profile that my use case does not require and it doesn't use SalesForce's PHP toolkit...

Still, I'd be very interested in the module maintainer's and other people's thoughts on creating a more abstracted layer of Sales Force integration for Drupal.
