The watchdog message isn't very informative. I suggest removing it.

Either that or improve the error reporting, and/or make it optional.

What would you suggest as an improvement for the error reporting? Logging URLs that cannot be processed is to useful to remove it.

In the latest release http://drupal.org/node/623714 I added an isset check to not issue watchdog messages if referrer information is suppressed by the user agent.
