Job purpose:

We need a web development all-rounder for www.defaqto.com with specific experience of developing web front-ends for modern, consumer-facing, high-volume websites. The successful candidate will bring a web-oriented perspective to Defaqto open source content management based product developments.

Responsibilities:

Reporting into the Development Team Leader you will be responsible for the design, development, documentation and implementation of internet-based applications to support business operations.

Requirements:

Essential

• Substantial experience with website design and development, HTML, DHTML, and JavaScript. Must be able to address HTML and scripting compatibility issues between different browsers
• Proven experience in the creation of web applications using LAMP tools & technologies: Apache, PHP, JavaScript, including experience with installing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing websites in the LAMP environment
• Experience of using Drupal as a platform for developing consumer facing web applications
• Design experience and a working knowledge of Photoshop
• Ability to understand and contribute to functional requirements and translate them into technical design and development projects
• Ability to clearly document features, technical specifications, and infrastructure requirements for self-produced technical work and job processes
• Must be able to continuously monitor industry trends, technologies, and standards and be able to research, recommend, and apply new technologies as they emerge
• Candidate must have excellent English oral and written communications skills
• Bachelors degree from a recognized university or equivalent experience (BS in Computer Science preferred)
• Loyalty, enthusiasm and drive

Desirable

• Ability to demonstrate previously developed web applications
• Experience of using My SQL relational database management system
• Good knowledge of financial products and services
