Would it be possible to combine it with imagecache?
Use it to retrieve offsite images for imagecache?
Use the filters of phpthumb als filters for imagecache?

Seems like some duplicated effort and would greatly improve imagecache if it were implemented there.

Please submit this issue in the imagecache queue. But I'm pretty sure imagecache could solve this in a better way then using phpthumb.
