Searching uploaded files (word,excel,ppt,pdf,rtf) content through Apache Solr

Hi,
I am using Apache Solr integration with Drupal to search site content. Now i would like to use the same for searching various files (word,excel,ppt,pdf,rtf)content.
So,i used UpdateRichDocument patch that is available with Apache solr. but i think,it has issues. Build failed for me.
I have tried swish-e and search_files modules also.
swish-e has lot of limitations according to my requirements.
search_files module is not working.
Please help me,in using Apache Solr to search files content.(Needed urgently)

I didn't ever get any response about setting up Solr, but I found the iPaper module which fit my needs well enough. PDF files are indexed and hosted on an external server, so it's not ideal for everyone, but for the moment it will do for me. I'll probably eventually figure out Solr, but ran out of time and resources on this project.
