Hi
I have recently browsed through different FAQ/support sites and one of impressive feature is the ability to be shown to the user the available options on the base of his/her input in the question text box (sometimes during typing or previewing), used as a search through the available FAQs; I think it will be from great advantage for the module, evading duplicate questions.

stella commentedI'm not totally sure what you're describing. Can you provide a link to an example site?
Do you mean an auto-complete question text field? Is this for questions that the site administrator is adding to the site or the "ask the expert" feature provided by the faq_ask module?
Cheers,
Stella

kansaj commentedsorry, if I was not precise. My idea was something like the solution provided
http://groups.google.com/group/google-reader-howdoi/post
The solution there is to use the subject field as an input for a search (such a filed is not present in FAQ).
The idea is during the user writes its question the input is checked for matching with other existing FAQs and respectively shown to him/her.
In the same time, I was more thinking in view of the user, providing the question, but your answer provided also idea for the back problem if the expert, who answers should be not also aware of the existing answers on the provided question in order to be able to redirect or to use the same text, once provided as answer.
Thank you

stella commentedThis feature request is for the FAQ Ask module, not FAQ; re-assigning.

nancydruAre you asking that the question be passed to Search (assuming it is enabled) and the results shown after entering the question?
kansaj commentedYes, this is my proposal. Basically the idea is to escape repeating questions.

nancydruI will get back to this after I finish #404832: Use native FAQ form.

nancydruI'm sorry, I no longer have time to support the 5,x branch. If someone else wants to create a patch, I will commit it.

stenjo commentedI do not think this will be part of the D6 branch, but hopefully we would be able to do something for the D7 branch?
