i love the asset model, but have decided not to use it at the moment for one reason:

I need each video I upload to be a node, for usage tracking purposes and to be able to tag it with lots of metadata.

Why not create a "video" content type and have the video itself as a CCK field using asset CCK?
Your other metadata can be held in more CCK fields.

Aah, ofcourse! sorry for my silly post - now i love asset, except for one small detail: doesnt work in D6.8 yet (appears to work, but is flaky)

The 6.x version was a one-time commit by cirotix who never maintained it.
