there are a lot of image/asset modules out there ... they are all not complete + and the media stuff in drupal is really a problem ...
because of this, can i ask: can you describe, why you founded this module? wouldn't it be better to participate in the imagefield development?

Hi,
I've participated in the imagefield development, submited patches, even maintained my own version with patches for AJAX Upload/Delete and thumbnails for a client. The same client needed a drupal 6.x version fast, and imagefield was just starting their rewrite based on filefield, so it was faster for me to write a new module with the features my client needed. It also means I don't have to chase imagefield and merge patches to keep up to date.

So, it's not about ideology or egos, just about what was most practical at the time. You are free to use whatever solution you find best.
