It may seem funny.
But I am having problem with linking the node:body field to its node.

I'm aware that 'contemplate' module can do the job, but it'll be great if the body field can have a "link this field to node" checkbox just like the title field.

Use theme: information to find the name of the right template file to use to theme the field in question. Then theme that field and provide the necessary HTML to wrap it inside an anchor tag.
