[quote=user] [/quote] tags in replies

hi guys, i'm really sorry to ask this stupid question. but i can't figure it out for the life of me how to fix this.

when i hit the "quote" button on either a forum topic or what ever type of content that allows quoting, the [quote=user] [/quote] tags are visible in the reply. i haven't a clue how to get rid of those tags in the output. i apologize if this seem really....stupid...but i'm at a lost here.

i'm using drupal 6.6 and also fck editor 6.x-1.3-rc6 (i'm not sure if that has any bearing on things). i'm using advanced forum module to handle every/all kinds of comments.

any help appreciated.
