It has just occurred to me that we are losing a lot of good information in the 3rd party module issues area. This lost of good information can actually lead to additional, redundant and unnecessary New Support Requests. (Member asking questions that have already been answered) This in turn increases an additional and unnecessary load on the maintainer of 3rd party modules
A good example would be something as simple as theme tweaks. Let’s say the 3rd party module displays links on a node. Person “A” would like the links to be displayed this way and Person “B” wants displayed another way.
So they open a Support Request. If the maintainer has the time, they pop back answer. More often, some other member has figured this out and will post a suggestion.
Now here is the problem. After time, it is very possible for that Support Request to become “Closed”. Thereby, inducing the question to be asked again.
Currently, if the issue is extremely common, the tip or trick might make it into the module readme file. But there is no simple way for forwarding Member Tips and Tricks.
I would like to suggest we create an area, somewhere in the Support links column for the module. Perhaps title it Member Tips and Tricks or Member Modifications.
This should move a lot of these types of questions out of the Core Forum area.
Another possible solution (and one that follows our current path in documenting) might be to just to link from the Module Issue Area over to the Documentation book area. This would give the Member Tips and Tricks or Member Modifications double the exposure. But it should be by module.
Thanks for considering
PS. Just thinking, a Link from the Moduile Issues Area to a possible Member Group area would be useful.
