i'm looking to create a database of people, where i can set certain attributes (male or female, address, phone #, etc.) i would like these 'profiles' to only be viewable by registered members (that i set up myself only.) i guess it would be like an e-commerce store except with people, and instead of descriptions of items, it would be descriptions of these people instead. it would need a search and alphabetize function. i'm thinking either an e-commerce module or a dating site module? any suggestions?

what i'm trying to do is
what i'm trying to do is create a database of juveniles who have been in trouble at schools. the principals would like a way of tracking the kids and seeing what they've been in trouble for. i would need to enter the kids' info and the school admins would then log in and look at their profiles. should i simply enter the kids as 'users' and then create a new group of users for the admins? if so, how can i make it so the admins can view all users? do i add it as a menu link?
custom content type
You could use a custom content type which could include as many fields as you want (name, offences, etc.). This could then be easily referenced in a custom page or through taxonomy. If you want to pursue this course and need help, let me know.
