After updating to Drupal 5.14, Upload Image does not create image nodes anymore

Hi,
after updating to Drupal 5.14, Upload Image does not create image nodes anymore; however, the files are still uploaded and accessible through http://www.mysite.tld/files/myfile.jpg. When editing the node to which the images were attached, the image attachments are still listed in the attchments section. When Upload previews is enabled, additionally thumbnails are displayed. However, no image nodes are created for the image attachments, and no errors are logged in the watchdog protocol (/admin/logs/watchdog).
I encountered this problem on two different sites after upgrading to Drupal 5.14, but I'm unsure how a Security upgrade could cause this.
Any ideas or suggestions how I can get the images into nodes and attach them to another node type again?
