My users have US zip codes entered. No longitudes. No latitudes. GMap's "User Map" shows absolutely no markers for any user.
Add Longitude and Latitude.....markers appear!
The proper zip code is in the US inc file, and it shows correct long/lat info. It's just not getting accessed.
Is using zip codes without long/lat entries working for anyone--they not only don't seem to work for GMap markers, but also are completely useless in the Promimity Filter in Views. Only explicitly entered long and lat data produces results.
Are zip codes just totally broken as a means of showing location?

mightyulysses commentedHave you checked that you have agreed to the terms and conditions for US in admin/settings/location/geocoding ?

yesct commenteddaneyuleb have you made any progress on this? Trying the latest dev version might be worth it, as lots of improvements have been made.
I'm not sure, but maybe most people are having their addresses with zip codes geo-coded, then using the lat/long later for processing.
I'm also tagging this location proximity view zip code, check out the issues with that tag to see some work on zip codes. Like maybe this one: #321114: Fixing exposed filters in Views for UK and US postal code proximity search (not cck location)
