If we already have a comments feed does that make the scraping logic easier?

This module would really be perfect for me, just trying to get my head around it. From what I can tell, looking at the vimeo example, it looks like it's scraping for comments rather than drawing upon a comments api/feed that's already in place. If there is an actual comment feed logic, as is the case with the site I'm working with, can we use that comments-feed rather than scraping, providing that would be cleaner? I'm not a coder, so I may be making no sense, forgive me if so.
