When you submit a page or blog type content, and you give an especific path url, if you edit this content again by default the checkbox is enabled as "Automatic alias", modifiying your old path. very annoying.

Check your pathauto options. It is very likely that in admin/build/path/ pathauto , in "general settings" section, under "update action" you have checked the third option "Create a new alias. Delete the old alias.". To avoid modifications to your old path, you should check the second one: "Create a new alias. Leave the existing alias functioning."
