I tried to follow some of the info for fixes for older versions, but found that most items had been fixed and no longer apply.

Loaded TinyMCE, set up role, set up permissions, set up alternate input format, confirmed I am in the role. Gave permissions to users in the role.

I have no buttons. No evidence at all that TinyMCE exists on the page, though information regarding it shows up in the page source. Using Firefox on a Mac.

Any ideas as to where I should head next or what I should do?

I have the same issue. Installed tinymce, permissions, edited tinymce profiles etc. Buttons wouldn't show on the pages...?
