Description

I created a views rotator that works great when I am logged in as the admin user (thanks by the way, it's awesome). Whenever I try to view the home page as an anonymous user or some other test role that I've created I cannot see the rotator. In looking for a solution to the problem I came across another user who is experiencing the same thing in the comments section of the views rotator screencast at mustardseedmedia.com. I've tried the latest dev version as well as the release from August that I assume Bob used in the podcast. None of these solves the problem.

Did you setup the View to have unrestricted access? Once I set my block that contains my handful of view rotator items to have unrestricted access, and made sure the content type used in the rotator was set for anonymous use/viewing, the blocks were viewable to the outside (non-logged in) world.

I finally found it. I never set the permission for users to view anything that was uploaded via the Upload module. Silly mistake, I appreciate the help.

I've tried the suggestions above, but still can't get the rotator to display to anyone but the admin. Did anyone ever come up with a solution to this? I've checked the permissions and added the ability to view uploaded files to anonymous users, I've poured over the permissions trying to come up with the right combination, but no luck. Can anyone who has been able to overcome this post their solution? It would be MUCH appreciated!

Anywhere I can get help with this?

Do you have empty text filled in? It could be that your filters are not finding any content to display.

Did you try creating a totally new view? Your view could be messed up.

Do you have any permission type modules installed? They are known to cause issues.

MF - I love what you guys are doing with G&G - thanks for the reply! I actually followed the steps in the tutorial that Bob did to the letter - there is no text in the in fields, only hte images I uploaded to test. No weird permissions, or user groups. It's a totally new view. It works fine when I'm logged in as the admin/user1 but is otherwise invisible.

Any other ideas? I may be missing something small, but I still can't get this working.

So, UID 1 can see everything but some of the fields can't be seen by others?

Do you have any permission based modules installed?

I had this exact problem, and it turned out to be a permissions issue with the brand new content types I'd created to provide material to be rotated.

You have to go into permissions and check the permissions for anonymous visitors to view "rotator_photo" or whatever you call it.

I was banging my head against this same brick wall too, although anonymous users could see the views rotator on the homepage it was not showing up elsewhere. Turned out I had not got 'content permissions' switched on in the modules page... Wierd thing is, the view HTML and images were all being loaded and displayed but the JS wasn't... *sigh* hopefully this will help some other people get to the bottom of their problem...
