I am in no way affiliated with MediaTemple at all... not yet...
Media temple is offering some great plans now... well "better than before" plans...
Shared Server systems at 2GB and 5GB allowing you to host up to 20 domains with the 5GB and the 5GB is about $14.95(USD) a month if payed for two years. With 75GB rollover bandwidth a month with the 5GB plan, so if you only use 50GB a month you get an extra 25GB moved to next month... sounds great to me...
I will be moving my site to them ASAP!

sounds cool.
what about multisite hosting? do they have to park / addon domains through a request or is it DIY? total choice hosting requires that they handle any park / addon domains to the root account themselves, though with a $20/mo reseller account one can do parking and addons to non-root accounts on their own. I'm not sure if their $5/mo service allows multisites, as it's a little of a grey area (many sites for one-domain prices). I would like the convenience of parking / adding domains myself, but honestly they do it for me in a reasonable timespan. However, if it were $5 less per month it might encourage me to switch.
i have used MediaTemple
i have used MediaTemple for smaller clients in the past, including several nonprofits, to which they gave great deals, and would definitely recommend them. I remember one incident where a client accidentally erased something, and mt retrieved it from a backup tape at no cost b/c the site was non-profit.
Mediatemple's reputation
Have looked into Mediatemple more closely and despite having some large clients (L'Oreal, Sony, AAA, The Gap), they have also been suffering from downtime and slow page response times ever since a new grid server based hosting plan has been on offer in October 2006. The problems have been both persistent and widely commented upon since then:

MediaTemple's response can be found here

It must be noted that grid server hosting is still maturing and certainly Mediatemple has a very favorable price/quality ratio and they deserve some credit for approaching the problem professionally. As a result, I am considering signing up. No other affiliation.
I am currently with ipowerweb and have a lacklustre opinion of their service levels. In other words, you get what you pay for.
