I am evaluating the ecommerce module for a non-profit that wants to raise donations online and I have a few questions:

1.) Can this be done through the ecommerce module?
2.) I know Pay Pal support is available, but how about integrating a custom payment gateway service (www.ccavenue.com) used widely in India?
3.) Other than generic donations, the charity also wants to raise money for sponsorships of children and various other specific types of donation. Would this be similar to offering several 'products' through an online store?

Thanks in advance.

1) Yes
2) Not sure, I can't find on their website how you would be able to their services with your own website. You should contact them to see what kind of information they could tell you before the ecommerce module.
3) Yes

Thanks.

I am wondering if I actually need to integrate a custom payment gateway service. Other than Paypal, what are the other gateways available by default with the ecommerce module? Or, is Paypal the only solution?

Any idea if the information on this page means that I can integrate quickly with the ecommerce module? They talk about integration API's and being able to use any shopping cart in the world:

Well the page doesnt say what API it uses. E-commerce has functionality for Exact, authorize.net, paypal, and paypal pro. I also remember reading though that writing other APIs into the e-commerce module is supposed to be easy, although I've never had to try.

Thanks!

If it is easy enough to implement, I may not even mind engaging a drupal developer to integrate this into the module- this will help the growing number of drupal users in India as it is a leading payment gateway.

Hi,

I am working on the same line to create an interface to accept donations for NGO in India.Managed to pull one string using Donorge module. But wasnt happy at all after reading the FAQ.

Would you mind telling me how far you have been successfull in implementing the interface using ccavenue.com? Please share all your experiences you encountered.
Eagerly waiting for your reply.

I dropped ecommerce for this purpose because the CiviContribute module that comes with CiviCRM does a better job of this especially for nonprofits. However, I must hasten to add that CiviContribute only makes it easy to set up donation pages. One has to still implement a payment gateway using the civicrm api.

I am yet to do the latter.
