I was quickly tested the filter by author feature from rc2 and no matter what username I filtered to (with a uid <>0), I got 0 messages listed.

I need to test further yet, so this is just a placeholder. can others also confirm or deny please?

Ouch, ugly bug. I joined on the wrong table/attribute. Here is a patch that should fix this.

tested and it works.

(we may however need to git rid of the url based filter... it causes too many problems and does nto work well with cases like spaces in usernames... a different issue that is, but sorry for making you write that before making this comment.)
