Issue Summary

Hi All,

I have an expertise in GHG emissions and carbon profiling; working as a consultant and graduate work.

I think this module is off to a good start, but is still too complicated for most users and won't compete well with carbon-focused sites.

I think it would be good to integrate this with the Charts Module.

I would be willing to sponsor a redevelopment of a GHG footprinting module if there are any programmers out there interested in starting over for Drupal 6.

I see that there is some progress in moving toward a drupal 6.x version of this module. I am very happy to see this as it would be very useful for many sites to integrate this including motor review sites, environmental sites and many others.

Is there a plan forward? Are you looking to develop a module which is customisable depending on the site?
ie. use CCK to create a 'carbon account' node with optional and creatable fields.
CCK Calculated field could be used to calculate the overall carbon account balance.

I like the idea of integrating it with google charts to track your progress over time.
Also we need a baseline for the new module. A 'regular user' which can be altered which will give an average to compare to. Maybe you can help with this CarbonPig? It is good to get field experts involved.

The plan is get the drupal 6 version complete. This is a spare time effort so reluctant to say when it will be finished. It's going to have table row editing e.g. to change meter readings which appears to be slightly messy to do in drupal and I have found no examples of other modules that have done this.

I am not planning on using or supporting CCK in the next release. Carbon and energy emissions are calculated for a group of accounts over a specific period in batch. I don't know whether it is possible to reorganise the program flow so that that it is CCK oriented but the idea is attractive. I think there is a case for a more flexible and lightweight carbon module, especially one that doesn't bother with time and date.

I have played with some of the other charting options and I am going to be including another charting option. The difficulty is having to reorganise that data for the particular chart.
