Drop down Menu and block intergration

I need to have a drop down menu for the top bar of
Will need to be able to display upto 2 sub menu catergories.
Will also need a series of blocks (from images) to be placed on the right hand side of the template.

For the blocks, there are few different routes to go depending on how many of those blocks you'll have. Maybe the best way would be to create a new content type (with a couple fields-image and link) and then you can use a view to output the individual items, and style to view to your liking.
