I'm currently using Drupal 5.x and have a node-type that users need to be able to 'edit' but not 'delete'.

Is this possible without hacking the core?

Use one of the access control modules like content_access or nodeaccesss. The good news is in d6 this is part of core.

Another alternative is to use the template.php file and remove the 'delete' button for the node edit form before it gets rendered on your page.

Hope this helps.

Removing the button doesn't prevent anyone with the proper permissions from using the /delete url.

Go to Administer -> user management -> access control and Give the permission in node module to edit the particular content type for relevant users.

Thanks,

The whole point is the op wants users to edit but not delete-- this is one permission in d5.
