Sub Menu won't display child book pages

I'm working on a web site and we are using sub menu's. Is there a way of displaying sub menu for a book? We are using sub menu for another primary link which has child pages and it displays the sub menu, but for some reason it doesn't display the sub menu for book pages, even though I tried build/menus/primarylink = expanded
