It's nice that the module/service combo allows for automatic creation of thumbnails.

However, scripts aren't very good at choosing thumbnails. For instance, all my test videos ended up with either a blank frame, a blur, or someone's nostril.

There doesn't appear to be a way to choose a thumbnail, choose a frame, or upload a custom thumbnail and have it go to the CDN.

It looks like the only solution is to add an additional thumbnail field (which won't go to the CDN, which is what we want a CDN for).

This kind of limits the service and modules usability for a commercial video site.

A widget to choose a frame, or a way to replace just the thumbnail, or a way to upload just an image would be great.

Is there a workflow or option I'm unaware of?

Definitely in the works to be able to select a thumbnail.

Stay tuned, it's on our roadmap.

We don't yet have support for custom thumbnails or keyframes, but it's planned.

Two options have presented themselves:

1. allow users to specify a specific time index for the thumbnail (obviously, error prone).
2. return a set of thumnails at specific intervals (e.g. a set of 10) to let users choose from.

We're currently debating the merit of both options, but we're leaning toward #2

is there any time frame for these changes?

Like I said, it's in the roadmap. We're planning a release within the next couple of weeks. I've got backend code committed to implement this partially; our module needs to account for it and then we'll have some testing.

I will update this issue once we have a solid candidate for this feature.

Sounds great. We should be finishing our project within the next 3 weeks. I'm happy to do some testing for you.
