I was hoping I could give my situation and someone could advise please.
I currently have about 30 sites that I am hosting through 1and1
Most sites are either Flash sites or just static sites through iWeb but I do have about 10 professional sites that I am currently developing in Drupal. The problem is I am finding with 1and1. Number one it is slow and secondly it has 100mb per database.
All of the drupal sites are very very heavy in modules and when the modules get too numerous I keep getting an error message about Out of Memory. After researching I have found that this is due to the database size in 1and1, that along with the slowness of my Drupal sites makes me want to switch hosting companies.
My question is which one would be the best for me? All of the sites will be large and rich in modules with the potential to have thousands of page visits per week. I am going to need a hosting company that can accomplish the size and make the site load quickly.
I have seen some recommend Rackspace, some Bluehost. It is hard to know who is recommending the best for me and who is recommending because they have alternate motives. I was wondering if anyone had feedback.
Would shared hosting be ok with the right host or would a dedicated server be better?
I am also going to be building a few complex e-commerce sites. All sites are large community based sites with tons of bells and whistles for maximizing the user experience!
Please help!

Mosso
Ok I looked at Mosso and I must say I am pretty impressed, anyone have negative or positive things to say about them?
I use
I use http://www.cartikahosting.com for all my Drupal sites. The largest has around 1500 nodes and receives about 10,000 unique visitors per month serving up 50,000 page views. Support has been great, even applying drupal .patch files for me and the publish the server up-times http://www.cartikahosting.com/Cartika-Uptime/

1and1 shared hosting for
1and1 shared hosting for Drupal is suck, you should not use it. But its dedicated hosting is really a great one.
And for your case, if you don't have a lot of traffic right now, you can start with shared web hosting, such as bluehost, or hostmonter, they are all very good choice for beginner.
Go for simple cPanel hosting.
Mosso is not good for Drupal, You need to change setting in .htaccess and some other functions.
Blue_host or any other "unlimited space/bandwidth/domains" hosting company limits memory and bandwidth at user or domain level that will make a good size(or busy site) slow.
Godaddy having issues with curl and mysql database rights(specially lock tables)etc.
I recommend - go with a company that provides simple cPanel hosting and does not offer any unlimited domains/space/bandwidth plan.
cPanel is a popular site admin control panel to manage site/hosting.
