Description
I just read this thread: http://drupal.org/node/350893 and looked at the demo and they have an amazing UI on that thing. The downside is then you need to host all your media with them. I would love to see a UI like that on asset. Now, obviously, I'm not asking you to run out and code it for me. But I thought I'd put it out there as an example in case you weren't aware of it. Feel free to just close this issue once you've either looked at it or decided you dont' care. :)

Hi Michelle,
thank for the input. I am not sure that flash is the way to go for the Asset UI but the UI looks definitively good. I think that there is something to learn here.
I particularly how internal contents (upload, browsing) and external services such as Flickr and YouTube are mixed

I'm not set on the flash necessarily. I just like how you can seemlessly move from tab to tab and the options are all layed out in an easy to understand manner. The searching for items on flickr / youtube is nice as well. If you could replicate the functionality, using the tool of your choice, and tie that in to asset's handling on the back end, that would be such an amazing module for people who have non-geek users on their sites. I do realize this is in the "pony" category of feature requests but, given the discussion we just had on IRC about their unethical SEO, I don't care to use their company for hosting my users' media.

I agree with Michelle, this UI looks beautiful, and Drupal really needs some better media handling.
It could be done in plain html/css/ajax, except for the webcamera/mic integration which would have to be flash to get it.
I don't even think it needs to be as complex as caltura. Upload media would be all that is needed, then the asset in the background based on settings, will decide what to do with the media being uploaded.
As for harvesting from the web I would think a similar system, except that you get a floating lightbox like "webbrowser", where the user can just browse a website, like youtube, and say "this is what I want", and then the backend interpreter will extract and format the data needed.
In Wordpress I tried out a very sleek interface for finding videos on google, or was it youtube, regardless, it was just a search box, after pressing search you got the video thumnails listed in an iframe, and you could just click on one, and then decide to embed it in the posting.
I haven't tried out asset yet, I couldn't get the 6.x-dev working, but the integration which the module seems to offer would be great for the non-technical users which Michelle refers to.
