Is there any reason why the 6.x package is not shown on the front page?

I did not test yet, but I intend to use your package on a couple of my sites... If it has problems, I'll fix them. I'd just need you to apply the fixes to the CVS (or to give me access to the CVS.)

Thank you.

I was hoping to see a Drupal 6 version of this module also. Glad to help debug and test it. I consider this to be a very important module all things considered. Passing username/password pairs en clare is fundamentally a bad idea.

There definitely should be a dev release so we have a base point to test.

Maybe this project should be marked as redundant and redirect users to http://drupal.org/project/securepages ?

Looks like this project is dead... I also make use of this one:

http://drupal.org/project/securesite

which is practical for any internal website. 8-)

A small clarification:
http://drupal.org/project/securepages
By default it adds configuration lines to secure all user pages including the login process.
