First of all, I just wanted to thank you for all the work you're doing on this module. It's an incredibly important module and I'm very grateful to have it.

I just upgraded to 6.x-1.x-dev (2008-Dec-26) and I get the following error message when I access the sitemap:

This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.

Any idea why this is happening?

Thanks.

I am also getting this in v5.x-2.x-dev (2008-Dec-25)

I uninstalled all XML sitemap modules, blew away the files/xmlsitemap directory, re-installed the modules and still no luck. After doing some checking around, I found that the module was NOT re-creating the files/xmlsitemap directory nor necessary .gz files in order to display the sitemap.xml file with style. I am guessing that since it is not creating them from scratch, then it is not refreshing any existing files either...

Hope this helps!

The XSL style sheet has been removed from the site map.
The browser tells you that it is going to show you the raw XML data as it cannot transform them in HTML. Some browsers show a warning dialog, but there is nothing to warn about.

For the web browsers which don't show the XML site map like a tree, there is always the possibility to see the page source, which works also when the page content is XML.

For a quick clarification, the 'pretty' styles that sitemap once had, is no longer in the module?

Is this something we can look forward to being re-implemented into the module or is it gone for good?

(I personally liked the 'pretty' style output) :)

It will not be added back, also because the project modules now adds the links to the site map only if the anonymous user is able to see the page associated to that link. For that reason, if an authenticated user checks the site map, he will probably not see any changes.

Removing the XSL style sheet is also a way to avoid that people keep to watch into it to see if it changes, or that people add a link to the primary (or secondary) links of their web site to show their XML site map (that is not something thought to be user-friendly; if there is such need, there is a module that creates a map of the site pages).

It also doesn't make sense to add a XSL style sheet, with a browser that is able to show the source of page even when the content is XML.

I am getting the same error with my new website:
"This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below."

The main problem is that even Google Webmaster Tools shows the status of sitemap.xml as ERRORS. When clicked for more details, Google reveals the following:
"Unsupported file format
Your Sitemap does not appear to be in a supported format. Please ensure it meets our Sitemap guidelines and resubmit"

Please guide me as to what I'm supposed to do now..

I am getting the same error with my new website:
"This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below."

That is not even an error, but a message of the browser that simply says that it cannot render the content as HTML, and it is showing the document tree of the XML content.

For the other issue, please open a different report.

I am changing back the report metadata as they were before.
